La boule précédente était un peu plus longue et complexe – on respire un bon coup, et on se lance dans une petite confection toute légère … en fil dentelle !

The previous bauble was a little longer to make and more involved – let’s take a deep breath and start a dainty little piece … in laceweight yarn!

Matériel
Un peu de fil dentelle (j’ai utilisé un reste de lin dentelle)
Un crochet de 2 mm
Une boule de Noël incassable d’environ 6 cm de diamètre

Materials :
Leftover laceweight yarn (I used a small quantity of laceweight linen).
A 2 mm crochet hook
A Christmas bauble approx 6 cm across (preferably in plastic or other unbreakable material, not in glass)

Étape 1 :

Faire une chaînette de 5 ml. Fermer en rond avec 1 mc dans la première ml.

Step 1 :

Ch 5. Close to a ring with a sl st in first ch.

Tour 1 : 1 ml (ne compte pas pour une m), 12 ms dans le rond. Fermer le tour avec 1 mc dans la premières ms du tour.

Round 1 : Ch 1 (does not count as a st), 12 sc in the ring. Close the round with a sl st in first sc in round.

Tour 2 : 8 ml (comptent pour 1 br + 5 ml), 1 br dans la 4ème m du tour précédent, rép 2 fois (5 ml, sauter 2 m, 1 br dans la m suiv), 5 ml, 1 mc dans la 3ème ml du début du tour – on a 4 brides et 4 arceaux de 5 ml.

Round 2 : Ch 8 (count as 1 dc + 5 ch), 1 dc in 4^th st in previous round, repeat (ch 5, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next st) twice, ch 5, 1 sl st in 3^rd ch at beginning of round – there are 4 dc and 4 5-ch spaces.

Tour 3 : 1 ml (ne compte pas pour une m), rép 4 fois ([1 ms, 3 ml, 1 ms] dans la br, 9 ms dans l’arceau de 5 ml), 1 mc dans la première ms du tour. Arrêter le fil.
Rentrer les fils.

Round 3 : Ch 1 (does not count as a st), repeat ([1sc, ch 3, 1 sc] in dc, 9 sc in 5-ch space) 4 times, 1 sl st in first sc in round. Fasten off.
Weave in ends.

Vous voyez le trait composé des brins arrière laissés libres lors du travail du petit volant du dernier tour ? Je vous propose d’utiliser ces brins pour piquer votre aiguille dessous afin de coudre la couronne sur votre boule.

Do you see the line created by the back loops left unworked when we crocheted the little ruffle on the last round? I suggest you use these loops, inserting your needle under them, when you sew the crown to your bauble.

Tour 1 : Monter 6 ms en rond à l’aide d’une boucle ajustable.

Round 1 : Work 6 sc in an adjustable loop.

Tour 2 : 2 ms dans chaque m – on a 12 m.

Round 2 : 2 sc in each st – there are 12 sts.

Tour 3 : rép (1 ms dans la m suivante, 2 ms dans la m suivante) jusqu’à la fin du tour – on a 18 m.

Round 3 : repeat (1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) to end of round – there are 18 sts.

Tour 4 : rép (2 ms dans la m suivante, 1 ms dans chacune des 2 m suivantes) jusqu’à la fin du tour – on a 24 m.

Round 4 : repeat (2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts) to end of round – there are 24 sts.

Tour 5 : Augmenter de 6 m – on a 30 m. Fermer le tour avec un mc.

Round 5 : Increase 6 sts – there are 30 sts. Close the round with a sl st.

Tour 6: 3 ml (comptent pour une br), 2 br dans le brin avant de la première m du tour, rép (1 ml, 3 br dans le brin avant de la m suivante) jusqu’à la fin du tour, 1 ml. Fermer le tour avec une mc dans la 3ème ml du début du tour.

Round 6 : Ch 3 (count as a dc), 2 dc in front loop of first st in round, repeat (ch 1, 3 dc in fron loop of next st) to end of round, ch 1. Close the round with a sl st in 3^rd ch in beginning of round.

Arrêter le fil.

Fasten off.

Pour les tours suivants, seules les diminutions sont indiquées. Je vous propose de travailler ces diminutions en ms all de la même manière que les diminutions en ms de la boule no 1 .
Il faut repartir ces diminutions de façon régulière, comme les augmentations en début d’ouvrage.

For the following rounds, only the decreases are indicated. I suggest to work these decreases in esc in the same way as the decreases in sc in bauble no 1.

Tour 18 : Diminuer de 6 m – on a 50 m.

Round 18 : Decrease 6 sts – there are 50 sts.

Tour 19 – 20 : Diminuer de 4 m – on a 42 m.

Rounds 19 – 20 : Decrease 4 sts – there are 42 sts.

Tour 21 : Diminuer de 6 m – on a 36 m. Fermer le tour avec une mc en fil B.

Continuer en fil B.

Rembourrer la boule, et continuer en fil A en appuyant sur le rembourrage pour ne pas attraper des fibres avec votre crochet.
Tours 24 – 26 : Diminuer de 4 m sur chaque tour – on a 16 m.

Stuff the bauble, and continue in col A, pressing down the filling so you don’t catch it with your hook.
Rounds 24 -26 : Decrease 4 sts on each round – there are 16 sts.

Arrêter le fil. Rentrer le bout du fil en le passant dans le dernier tour. Resserrer, sans chercher à fermer le trou en haut de la boule complètement.

Fasten off. Weave in the end through the final round. Tighten, without trying to close the hole at the top of the bauble completely.

Alterner les couleurs comme suit (en piquant toujours 1 ms all dans 1 m du rang précédent) :
3 ms all en fil A, rép 3 fois (7 ms all en fil B, 7 ms all en fil A), 7 ms all en fil B, 4 ms all en fil A.

Round 12 : No increases on this round, but tapestry crochet in esc. For neat colour changes, use the method explained in the newsletter for September 2008. Carry the unused colour as explained in the newsletter from June 2013.

Cette boule est crochetée utilisant la maille serrée allongée (ms all). Les mailles allongées sont expliquées dans mon bulletin d’information de mai 2012.
Dans cette boule, les tours sont fermés avec une maille coulée.

This bauble is worked in extended single crochet (esc). Extended stitches are explained in my newsletter for May 2012.
In this bauble, the rounds are closed with a slip stitch.

Let’s get going on a new bauble !

Assez simple celle-ci, mais sur un principe très différent – cette fois-ci, on va habiller une boule de Noël existante.

This one is pretty simple, but the concept is quite different – this time we are going to dress up an existing bauble.

Matériel :
Un reste de fil type chaussette
1 crochet 2.5 mm
Une boule de Noël d’environ 6 cm de diamètre (par préférence incassable).
Facultatif : un fil fin brillant à crocheter avec le fil type chaussette (en tenant les deux ensemble). J’ai utilisé un fil à coudre métallisé DMC.

Materials :
Leftover fingering weight yarn.
A 2.5 mm crochet hook
A Christmas bauble approx 6 cm across (preferably in plastic or other unbreakable material, not in glass)
Optional : a glitter thread to work with the fingering weight yarn (holding one strand of each together). I used a metallic DMC sewing thread.

Étape 1 :

Step 1:

Monter une chaînette de 6 ml. Fermer en rond avec 1 mc dans la première ml.

Ch 6. Close to a ring with a sl st in first ch.
