Donc, pour commencer la nouvelle année, j’ai tâté un fil sublime, la Venezia de Cascade (disponible chez Laine et Tricot). 70% mérinos, 30% soie et une couleur rouge à laquelle aucun appareil photo peut rendre justice. La soie reflète la lumière d’une manière fantastique et le fil est d’une douceur remarquable.
To start the new year, I fondled a wonderful yarn: Cascade’s Venezia (available in France at Laine et Tricot). 70% merino wool, 30% silk and a red which simply can’t be conveyed neither by the camera nor by the computer screen. The silk reflects the light in an incredible way and the yarn is so wonderfully soft.
Par contre, j’ai pu constater que mes soupçons étaient fondés – je trouve ce fil un peu trop épais pour le rendu que je souhaite au crochet. L’écheveau aura donc un destin tricotique chez moi. A quand une version plus fine pour les crocheteuses?
However, what I suspected was confirmed – this yarn is too thick to obtain the result I want in crochet. This lovely skein (now a ball) will find a knitted destiny. I’m wishing for a finer version to make my hook happy…
J’ai aussi terminé un projet tricot qui me tenait à coeur tout particulièrement – une paire de Ribbed Waffle Socks tricotées avec le fil Cho’7 de Bergère de France sur une aiguille circulaire de 3 mm (technique du « Magic Loop »). Ces chaussettes sont destinées à une amie qui a très froid aux pieds suite à des problèmes de santé sérieux (et qui ne lit pas ce blog, du moins je ne le pense pas…).
I also finished a small knitting project which has a special meaning to me – a pair of Ribbed Waffle Socks knitted in Cho’7 from Bergère de France on a 3 mm circular (Magic Loop technique). These socks are a gift for a friend who has very cold feet because of a serious health problem (and who hopefully doesn’t read this blog…).
Tâter un fil sublime, finir un projet… L’année commence bien!
