Vous les avez peut-être vu sur mon stand si vous m’avez rencontré lors d’un salon, car je les ai tricotés tous les deux dans les fils de ma boutique.

If you have met me at a craft show, you might have seen them in my booth, since I’ve knitted up both patterns in yarns from my shop.

Voici mon Moulin Rouge en alpaga fin. Il fonctionnerait aussi très bien dans le mérinos fin. Dans un cas comme dans l’autre, 2 pelotes suffisent.
Si je devais en faire un de plus, je le tricoterais bien en alpaga moyen ou mérinos moyen, en adaptant bien sûr la taille des aiguilles. Dans ce cas, il faudrait prévoir 4 pelotes dans l’une ou l’autre des qualité.

This is my Moulin Rouge in fingering weight alpaca. It would also work very well in fingering weight merino. In one case or the other, 2 balls are enough.
If I were to knit a second one, I think I’d try the DK weight alpaca or DK weight merino, with larger needles of course. In this case, I’d plan on using 4 balls in either yarn.

Et voici Cladonia, tricoté en mérinos fin. Prévoir 100 g dans la couleur du fond (ici, crème) et 75 g dans la couleur des rayures (ici anthracite).
On peut aussi tricoter Cladonia avec 3 pelotes de Mini Mochi, comme Barjolaine l’avait fait.

And here is Cladonia, knitted in my fingering weight merino. I recommend 100 g in the main colour (here: cream) and 75 g in the contrast colour (here: charcoal).
Cladonia can also be knitted with 3 balls of Mini Mochi, as French blogger Barjolaine did.

La version originale de l’étole Laight Street, photographiée par Gale Zucker en haut de ce billet, est tricotée dans un fil épais, à 157 m les 100 g, sur des aiguilles de 8 mm. L’échantillon indiqué est de 13 mailles aux 10 cm, pour une largeur de l’étole fini de 30 ou 56 cm suivant la taille choisie.

Kirsten’s version of the Laight Street stole, photographed by Gale Zucker at the top of this post, is knitted in an aran yarn at 157 m per 100 g on 8 mm needles. The indicated gauge is 13 sts per 10 cm, which gives a finished stole with a width of 30 or 56 cm depending on the size chosen.

Avec ma copine Françoise, nous avons choisi de faire un échantillon avec le mérinos épais, un tout petit peu moins lourd. Le résultat est bien moelleux et agréable, et après blocage on obtient un échantillon très proche de l’original (14 mailles aux 10 cm).

I and my friend Françoise opted for a swatch in worsted weight merino, a tad lighter. The result is squishy and soft, and after blocking the gauge is very close to the indicated one (14 sts per 10 cm).

Pour tricoter Laight Street en mérinos épais, il faut prévoir 6 pelotes pour la petite taille et 12 pelotes pour l’étole plus large.

To knit Laight Street in worsted weight merino, you will need 6 balls for the smaller size and 12 balls for the larger stole.

vestry
Vestry Street est un modèle de châle en demi-cercle, dont la bordure reprend une variante du point utilisé dans Laight Street. Les explications sont données pour deux versions, une en fil fin (type mérinos fin ou alpaga fin), l’autre en fil dentelle. Pour jouer encore plus sur le contraste entre les deux modèle, Françoise a bien voulu tricoter un échantillon de Vestry Street en London, coloris crème.

Vestry Street is a semi-circular shawl design, where the border includes a variation on the stitch pattern used in Laight Street. The pattern is written for two version, one in fingering weight yarn (such as my fingering weight merino or fingering weight alpaca) and the other one in laceweight. To underline the contrast between the two designs, Françoise agreed to knit a swatch for Vestry Street in London, col cream.

Le résultat est tout à fait aérien – Françoise a craqué pour le rendu du point mousse tout simple dans ce fil noble (moitié laine, moitié soie). Pour tricoter Vestry Street il vous faudra 2 pelotes de London.

The result is gorgeously airy – Françoise particularly loved the effect of the simple garter stitch in this sublime yarn (half wool, half silk). To knit Vestry Street you will need 2 balls of London.

Regardons ce que nous pouvons utiliser comme fil pour ces deux modèles !

Let’s see what yarns we can use for these two patterns!

Pour Ziggity, mon amie Françoise a testé la combinaison de mérinos fin turquoise (pour les parties ajourées) et Mini Mochi col Festival (pour le point mousse). L’effet obtenu est encore plus joli que prévu ! Bien sûr, en tricotant un châle entier, plus de couleurs comprises dans le coloris Festival entrerons en jeu.
Pour tricoter Ziggity avec ces deux fils, prévoir 2 pelotes de Mini Mochi et 2 pelotes de mérinos fin.

For Ziggity, my friend Françoise tested the combination of fingering weight merino in turquoise (for the openwork pattern) and Mini Mochi in Festival (for the garter stitch sections). It turned out even prettier than anticipated! Of course, when knitting a whole shawl and not just a swatch, more of the different colours in the Festival colourway will unfold.
To knit Ziggity in these two yarns, you will need 2 balls of Mini Mochi and 2 balls of fingering weight merino.

Pour Roma, le mérinos fin était un choix naturel – ici en turquoise pour la couleur de fond / de la bordure et maïs pour la couleur des rayures. Il vous faudra 3 pelotes pour la couleur du fond et 2 pelotes pour la couleur des rayures.

For Roma, the choice of fingering weight merino came naturally – here in turquoise for the main colour and roasted corn for the contrasting colour. You will need 3 balls for the main colour and 2 balls for the contrast colour.

J’ai voulu voir comment associer les différents modèles du livre aux fils que je propose dans ma boutique. Merci à ma copine Françoise qui m’a aidé à tricoter des échantillons !

Le modèle Andrea fonctionne à merveille avec le mérinos moyen, ici dans les coloris pétunia (couleur de fond / de la bordure) et azalée (couleur des rayures).Le châle est expliqué en trois tailles, avec une envergure de 107 (124, 142) cm. Il vous faudra environ 2 (3, 4) pelotes de mérinos moyen pour la couleur de fond et 1 (1, 2) pelotes pour la couleur des rayures. Comme le fil est un tantinet plus épais que celui de l’original, vous pouvez utiliser des aiguilles un peu plus grosses (4,5 ou 5) pour un résultat bien souple.

The Andrea’s Shawl patterns works really well with the DK weight merino, here in the colours petunia (for the border) and azalea (for the stripes).
The pattern is written in three sizes, with a wingspan of 107 (124, 142) cm. You will need approx 2 (3, 4) balls of DK weight merino for the main colour and 1 (1, 2) balls for the stripes. As the yarn is slightly heavier than the original sports weight, do not hesitate to go up a needle size for a soft and drapey result.

Quant à Ulmus, cela fait déjà plusieurs années que je l’ai tricoté en mérinos fin, et il est toujours aussi beau. Vous avez pu le voir « en vrai » si vous m’avez rencontré sur un salon où je l’ai présenté.Ici j’ai utilisé environ 125 g de mérinos fin turquoise pour la couleur de fond / de la bordure et 75 g de mérinos fin chocolat pour les rayures.

As for Ulmus, I knitted it up several years ago in my fingering weight merino, and it’s still as beautiful as when it first fell off my needles.
I used approx 125 g fingering weight merino in turquoise for the main colour and 75 g fingering weight merino in chocolate for the stripes.
