Clementine

Je vous présente Clementine, mon dernier modèle publié dans la boutique. Clementine est une petite veste qui va aussi bien sur un petit haut d’été que pour égayer une tenue plus hivernale.

Let me introduce Clementine, my new design published in the shop. Clementine is a little jacket which works just as well to pull on over a summer top as to brighten a winter outfit.

Manon

J’ai le plaisir de vous présenter Manon, une petite veste trapèze pour des filles branchées de 3 mois à 2 ans.

I have the pleasure to introduce Manon, an A-line jacket for stylish girls from 3 months to 2 years old.

Manon est crochetée en point granite, avec quatre couleurs différentes mais jamais plus d’une couleur par rang. Elle est disponible dans la boutique, en fiche simple ou en kit avec la laine et les boutons teints spécialement pour s’accorder avec la bande de boutonnage.

Manon is crocheted in granite stitch, with four different colours but only one colour per row. The design is available in the shop, both as a pattern and as a kit, including the yarn and custom dyed buttons.

Tulip skirt

Cette jupe est ma contribution au numéro de printemps 2009 du magazine Interweave Crochet.

This skirt is my contribution to the spring 2009 issue of Interweave Crochet.

Pour ce numéro, la rédaction du magazine a demandé des modèles adaptables aux grandes tailles. Cela faisait longtemps que je voulais imaginer une jupe au crochet, et j’ai essayé de la rendre aussi adaptable que possible pour toutes sortes de morphologies.

For this issue, the magazine asked for plus-size designs. I had wanted to design a crocheted skirt for a long time, and I tried to make it as easy as possible to adapt to different body shapes.

En effet, quand une personne prend du poids, l’endroit où ce poids vient se loger diffère suivant la personne. Certaines femmes prennent beaucoup de poitrine, d’autres au niveau du ventre, encore d’autres au niveau des hanches…

When a person puts on weight, this weight will be added to the silhouette in different places for different persons. Some women grow larger at the bust, others at the tummy, still others at the hips…

Par conséquent cette jupe a une taille qui se règle avec une cordelette. En plus, comme elle est travaillée en hauteur, il est simple de l’ajuster à sa taille, même si on tomberait entre deux tailles spécifiées dans les explications.

This is the reason why this skirt has a drawstring waist. Also, it is worked vertically, from side to side, which makes it very easy to adapt to your own size, even if you fall between two of the sizes in the pattern.

Mais forme simple et adaptabilité ne doivent pas entrainer un look « sac-à-patates » – c’est pourquoi la jupe s’élargit en bas, pour danser autour des jambes!

However, a simple and easily adjustable shape shouldn’t make you look like a potatoe sack. This is why the skirt flares out in the bottom, to dance around your legs!

Isabella

Les jours s’allongent, on a envie de laisser tomber les gros pulls, mais il fait encore froid… Vite, un débardeur!

The days are getting longer, I don’t feel like wearing those thick sweaters any longer, but it’s still cold… Quick, I need a vest!

Isabella se crochète avec un crochet de 6 mm et un fil d’environ 180 – 185 mètres aux 100 grammes. J’ai utilisé Mille Colori de Lang, que j’aime beaucoup – beaucoup de douceur et plein de couleurs. Travailler un fil avec des changements de couleurs au crochet est intéressant, surtout avec des coquilles, des nopes, ou comme ici des « mouchets ». Toutefois, ce modèle a suffisamment d’interêt du point de vue de la construction et la combinaison de points (très simple) pour aller très bien en uni aussi.

Isabella is crocheted with a 6 mm (US J-10) hook, using a yarn at approx. 180 – 185 m [200 – 205 yds] per 100 g [3,5 oz]. In the sample garment I used Lang Yarn’s Mille Colori, a yarn that I like a lot – it’s soft and colourful. It is interesting to crochet a yarn with colour changes, especially in « clustered » stitch patterns such as shells or the (flat) bobbles I used here. However, this design has enough interest in its construction and the combination of (simple) stitch patterns to work up beautifully in a single-coloured yarn as well.

Robin

Je vous présente Robin, le petit dernier de ma boutique.

I’m happy to introduce Robin, the latest arrival in the store.

Robin est une veste layette, travaillée dans des points très simples et rehaussée par une couleur contrastante. La fiche du modèle comprend les tailles de 3 à 24 mois.

Robin is a baby jacket, worked in simple stitches using two colors. The pattern includes sizes from 3 to 24 months.

Pour ce vêtement, j’ai choisi le fil Boudchou de la marque Plassard, un 100% mérinos lavable en machine (programme laine). Le fil m’a beaucoup plu, et j’ai décidé de vous le proposer aussi en kit, soit pour les tailles 3 à 12 mois, soit pour les tailles 18 à 24 mois. Les kits comprennent également des boutons que j’ai fait teindre pour qu’ils s’accordent parfaitement au fil.

To work up this garment I chose the yarn Boudchou from the French yarn company Plassard. It is a machine washable (wool cycle) 100% merino. I liked this yarn so much that I decided to sell it also as a kit, for sizes 3 to 12 months or 18 to 24 months. The kits also include buttons that I had custom dyed to match the yarn.

Fireside Pullover

Mais ou ai-je la tête? Je ne vous ai pas encore présenté les modèles conçu par moi pour le numéro hiver d’Interweave Crochet. Il est temps de réparer cette erreur…

What have I been thinking? I realize that I haven’t yet shown you my designs published in the winter issue of Interweave Crochet. It’s high time to put this straight!

Le thème de ce numéro était les fils épais. Même si d’habitude je préfère travailler les fils fins, ce thème m’a inspiré un pull assez simple, dans des points pas compliqués et avec une petite finition sympathique. Un pull confortable pour se détendre au coin du feu un jour d’hiver où il fait froid.

The theme for the submissions for this issue was heavy-weight yarns. Even if I usually prefer to work in thinner yarns, I was inspired to create a simple sweater, with easy stitches and a nice little edging. A comfortable sweater to wear when you curl up at the fireside on a cold winter day.

Ce pull est travaillé dans Bingo de Lana Grossa, un fil 100% mérinos à 80 mètres par pelote de 50 grammes. J’ai utilisé un crochet de 6 mm.

The garment is worked in Lana Grossa’s Bingo, a 100% merino yard at 80 meters [87 yds] per 50 g [1.75 oz] ball. I used a 6 mm [US J/10] hook.

Thua

La voici, enfin: Thua!

Here she is, finally: Thua!

Il m’a fallu quelque temps pour la finir. Le plus long était la fermeture éclair. Non pas qu’elle était difficile à coudre (c’est à peu près mille fois plus facile de coudre une fermeture éclair dans un vêtement crocheté que dans un vêtement tricoté), mais je l’avais commandé dans ma mercerie locale, et le fabricant/grossiste a mis une éternité pour la livrer.

It took me some time to finish this design. The most time-consuming part was the zipper. No, it wasn’t difficult to sew in (it’s about a million times easier to sew in a zipper in a crocheted garment than in a knitted one), but I had ordered it in my local haberdashery, and it took the manufacturer/wholesaler an eternity to finally deliver it.

Le dos et les devants ont été réalisés par Christine Laurès – un travail absolument impeccable, merci beaucoup Christine! En fait, je pense que Christine a été plus rapide pour faire le plus gros de la pièce que moi pour faire la capuche…

The back and fronts were crocheted by Christine Laurès, who did a wonderfully precise job. Thanks a lot Christine! I actually think that Christine was quicker to work up the major part of the garment than I was to decide on the final shape of the hood…

Guy: veste pour enfant / a child’s jacket

Voici un vêtement pour mon fils – une petite veste que j’appelle Guy (un prénom en français et en anglais, ainsi qu’un mot voulant dit « gars » en anglais. Puis, ça ne gâche rien que c’est aussi le prénom du « tonton » alsacien des enfants.)

A garment for my son. It’s a small jacket, and I call it Guy (both because of the name and because it’s for my small guy. It also happens to be the name of my children’s daycarer’s husband, who is like family to them.)

Cette veste est crochetée avec des côtes tricotées – un mélange que je trouve heureux et masculine.

This jacket is crocheted with knitted ribbing – I find the combination both interesting and manly.

Mesdames et messieurs, je vous présente… Gudrun!

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome… Gudrun!

Gudrun est quelque chose d’aussi formidable que la première pièce terminée de ma petite collection printemps 2008. La fabuleuse crocheteuse Berry Goblinfly a contribué à sa réalisation.

Gudrun is truly unique: it’s the first finished piece in my small spring collection 2008. Fabulous crocheter Berry Goblinfly has helped with the stitching.

J’étais partie sur la forme d’une veste toute prête que j’aime beaucoup, de la créatrice suédoise Gudrun Sjöden – d’où le nom du modèle. A l’arrivée, plus grand-chose à voir, évidemment. Si, le lien à nouer…

My starting point was the shape of a store-bought cardigan that I love, by Swedish designer Gudrun Sjödén – hence the name of this piece. The finished piece is, of course, very different. You could perhaps track my inspiration in the cord closure…

Ma Gudrun à moi est un gilet/une veste de printemps travaillé en deux points différents mais complémentaires. La veste sur la photo est réalisée en Cotton Angora de Debbie Bliss, mais elle peut évidemment se faire dans n’importe quel fil d’une grosseur équivalente (180 mètres aux 100 grammes), en coton ou coton mélangé.

My Gudrun is a spring cardigan worked in two different stitches which complement each other nicely. The cardigan in the photos is worked in Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora, but you can of course work it in any yarn in a similar weight (worsted, 180 m/197 yds per 100 g/3 oz.) in cotton or a cotton blend.

Weekend Jacket

Une veste très douce et confortable, à enfiler pour un promenade de week-end.

A soft and comfortable jacket to slip into for a weekend walk.

La veste est travaillée dans du RYC Cashcotton, en trois couleurs (le dos et les manches sont unis, sauf la petite rayure en bas).

The jacket is worked in RYC Cashcotton using three colours (the back and the sleeves are in one colour, except for the small stripes at the bottom).
