Twist Collective hiver/winter 2011

The new Twist Collective is out, and I’m trying very hard to refrain from drooling all over my keyboard.

It’s clear that I will never have the time to knit everything I like in this issue. Even after a very severe selection, there are no less than seven projects without which I don’t know how to get through winter. Let’s dream…

Verve by Meghan Jackson. You can make this as a shawl or a scarf, and for once, it’s the scarf that really makes my heart tick. Eyelets that create swirls, a picot edging, yummy! This would look wonderful in Sausalito or Mini Mochi, I’m sure.

Oscillate by Amy Herzog. Amy is one of a select group of designers who really think hard about how to design clothes that are perfectly adapted to the female body. Also, I love the cable details. And I could knit it in my worsted weight merino.

Geada by Susanna IC. What can I say? I love cables. I love lace. How could I resist the combination of the two, in a slightly thicker yarn? For this too, the worsted weight merino would work well. It would be so soft… Better not to think about it.

Non. Mais c’est sublime!

Kyllene, designed by Kirsten M Jensen. A whole sweater in contemporary stranded knitting, worked in a fingering weight yarn (such as my fingering weight merino for example…). A realistic knitting project for me? No. But it’s gorgeous!

Caprio, une création de Amy Christoffers. Dessin géométrique + dentelle = Annette craque. Trop beau.

Caprio by Amy Christoffers. Geometry + lace = Annette in love. Just so beautiful. I’m hesitating between the fingering weight alpace (pretty close to the weight of the yarn used in the original design) and the fingering weight merino (it would make the pattern stand out so neatly).

Midtown by Sandi Rosner. It’s a fact, I need to start working seriously on my stranded knitting skills. And I need to learn to steek my knitting. This skirt would be worth the effort a thousand times.

Sandi also has a great article on increases in the magazine.

Bellevue, a design by Robin Melanson. I immediately noticed Robin Melanson’s designs when I started exploring the English language knitting world. Bellevue would be just perfect to wear when I knit or crochet on the sofa during the long winter nights. It would be incredibly soft knitted in my worsted weight merino. I’ll leave the horse to someone who knows how to take care of it.

Bon, on peut toujours rêver!

As I said, let’s dream!
