Voilà, ma boule no 1 est terminée – et peut-être le vôtre aussi ?

So, my bauble no 1 is finished – perhaps yours too?

Pour partager votre photo de boule avec les autres, et participer au tirage au sort du mois de janvier, il y a deux façons de s’y prendre :

To share you bauble picture with others and participate in the January drawing, there are two ways:

Pour participer au tirage au sort, vous avez jusqu’au 5 janvier pour m’envoyer une ou plusieurs photos de boules (chaque boule terminée vous donne un « ticket »). L’objectif n’est pas d’ajouter du stress, mais de s’amuser !

You have until January 5th to send me one or more bauble pictures (each finished bauble gives you an entry in the drawing). The idea is not to add stress, but to have fun !

Et si vous voulez simplement crocheter vos boules chez vous, les suspendre dans le sapin et ne pas les prendre en photo, c’est très bien aussi (mais vous ne participerez pas au tirage au sort, bien sûr).

And if you prefer crocheting your baubles in the quiet of your home, hang them in the tree and not take any pictures, that’s perfect too (but you will not take part in the drawing, of course).

Qu’elle frise comme dans la photo ou que vous l’ayez dompté au blocage, vous devez maintenant être en possession d’une couronne de feuilles semblable à celle ci-dessus.

Whether it curls as in the picture or you have tamed it to flatness by blocking, you should now have a crown with leaves similar to the one above.

Today, it’s a mini step so that Marie-Aude can catch up!

Nous allons coudre la couronne de feuilles sur la boule.

We are going to seam the leaf crown to the bauble.

Étape 5 :

Step 5:

Rentrer le fil de démarrage de la couronne (le bout au milieu).

Weave in the yarn end at the center of the crown.

Aligner (aussi bien que cela puisse se faire) le centre de la couronne avec les feuilles sur le trou de la boule.

Align (as well as you can) the center of the crown on the hole at the top of the bauble.

Utiliser le bout du fil restant pour coudre la couronne sur la boule. Replier les feuilles pour faire des petits points le long de la partie pleine de la couronne, laissant les feuilles libres.

Use the remaining yarn end to sew the crown to the bauble. Fold back the leaves and make small stitches along the round center part of the crown, leaving the leaves free to move.

Bon, nous avons donc une boule toute simple, avec un petit trou en haut. On lui ajoute quelque chose ! Des feuilles !

Avec le fil vert (ou autre couleur contrastante) travailler la couronne de feuilles comme suit :

With green (or another contrasting colour) yarn, work the leaf crown as follows :

Les tours 1 – 3 se travaillent en spirale (sans fermer les tours).

Rounds 1 – 3 are worked in a spiral (do not close rounds).

Tour 1 : Monter 6 ms en rond à l’aide d’une boucle ajustable.

Round 1: In an adjustable loop, work 6 sc.

Tour 2 : 2 ms dans chaque m – on a 12 m.

Round 2 : 2 sc in each st – there are 12 sts.

Tour 3 : rép (1 ms dans la m suivante, 2 ms dans la m suivante) jusqu’à la fin du tour – on a 18 m.

Round 3 : repeat (1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) to end of round – there are 18 sts.

Tour 4 (feuilles) : 1 ms dans la première m du tour 3, rép 18 fois (11 ml, 1 ms dans la 2ème ml à compter du crochet, 1 demi-br dans la ml suivante, 1 br dans la ml suivante, 1 double br dans chacune des 4 ml suivantes, 1 br dans la ml suivante, 1 demi-br dans la ml suivante, 1 ms dans la ml suivante, 1 ms dans la m suivante du tour 3), remplaçant la dernière ms avec une mc dans la 1ère ms du tour.

Round 4 (leaves) : 1 sc in first st of round 3 ; repeat (ch 11, 1 sc in 2^nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in next ch, 1 tr in each of next 4 ch, 1 dc in next ch, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 sc in last ch, 1 sc in next st in round 3) a total of 18 times, replacing last sc with a sl st in first sc of round.

Arrêter le fil en laissant un bout assez long. Il servira à coudre la couronne de feuilles sur la boule.

Fasten off, leaving a good lenght of yarn. You will use it to sew the leaf crown to the bauble.

Décidez si vous voulez bloquer la couronne de feuilles ou pas. Si vous voulez, faites-le !

Decide whether you want to block the leaf crown or not. If you do, block it !

Tours 16 – 19 : Travailler sans augmentations.

Rounds 16 – 19 : Work straight without increases.

Pour les tours suivants, nous allons travailler des diminutions d’une manière spécifique.

On the following rounds, we are going to make decreases in a specific way.

Pour diminuer d’une maille, rép 2 fois (piquer le crochet sous le brin avant de la m suivante) , 1 jeté, ramener le fil à travers deux boucles [il reste deux boucles sur le crochet], 1 jeté, écouler les deux boucles.

To increase one stitch, repeat (insert hook under front loop of next stitch) twice, yo, pull through two loops on hook [two loops remain], yo, pull through last two loops.

Faisons un petit pas-à-pas en photos :

Let’s do it step-by-step with photos:

Piquer le crochet d’abord sous le brin avant 1, puis sous le brin avant 2.

Insert the hook first under front loop 1, then under front loop 2.

J’ai piqué sous le premier brin, et j’incline mon crochet pour piquer sous le deuxième.

I have inserted the hook under the first front loop, and I’m tilting my hook downwards to insert it under the second.

 J’ai piqué sous les deux brins. Je dois faire un jeté et ramener le fil à travers ces brins, qui apparaissent comme les deux premières boucles sur le crochet.

Both front loops are on my hook. I am now going to yarn over and pull through these front loops, that are the first two loops on my hook.

C’est fait, il me reste deux boucles sur le crochet. Je dois maintenant faire un jeté et écouler ces deux boucles.

Done, two loops remain on the hook. Now, I’m going to make a yarn-over and pull through these two loops.

Les deux dernières boucles sont écoulées, la diminution est terminée.

I have through the last two loops, the decrease is completed.

Cette technique permet de faire une diminution en mailles serrées pratiquement invisible. Je l’ai appris de June Gilbank, alias PlanetJune, une créatrice d’amigurumis très talentueuse. Sur son site, vous trouverez une vidéo montrant la technique ainsi qu’un tuto en photos – si vous êtes gaucher, descendre la page et vous trouverez tout ce qu’il vous faut.

This technique allows you to work nearly invisible decreases in sc. I learned it from June Gilbank, alias PlanetJune, a very talented amigurumi designer. On her site you will find a video showing the technique as well as a photo tutorial. If you are left-handed, scroll down her page and you will find what you need.

En repartissant ces diminutions de la même manière que les augmentations en début d’ouvrage, continuer comme suit :

Distributing these decreases over each round in the same way as the increases above, continue as follows :

Tour 20 : Diminuer de 6 m – on a 44 m

Round 20 : Decrease 6 sts – there are 44 sts.

Tours 21 – 24 : Diminuer de 4 m sur chaque tour – on a 28 m.

Rounds 21 – 24 : Decrease 4 sts on each round – there are 28 sts.

Maintenant il faut rembourrer votre boule, sinon le trou sera trop petit et la tâche trop compliquée !

Now you need to stuff your bauble, before the hole gets too small !

Pour les derniers tours, essayez d’appuyer sur le rembourrage pour ne pas attraper des fibres avec votre crochet.

Work the last few rows pressing down the filling material so as not to catch on it with the crochet hook.

Tour 25 : Diminuer de 6 m – on a 22 m.

Round 25 : Decrease 6 sts – there are 22 sts.

Tour 26 : Diminuer de 4 m – on a 18 m.

Round 26 : Decrease 4 sts – there are 18 sts.

Arrêter le fil. Rentrer le bout du fil en le passant dans le dernier tour. Resserrer, sans chercher à fermer le trou en haut de la boule complètement.

Fasten off. Weave in the end through the last round. Tighten, without trying to close the hole entirely.

Si vous avez suivi les instructions de l’étape 1 de la première boule de Noël, vous devez désormais être l’heureux propriétaire d’un ouvrage ressemblant celui dans la photo ci-dessus.

If you have followed the instructions for step 1 of the first Christmas bauble, you should now be the proud owner of a project ressembling the photo above.

Si vous prenez le train en route – pas de panique. Pour vous permettre de rattraper les autres, l’étape d’aujourd’hui est courte – ce soir, vous avez largement le temps de faire les deux, si vous voulez.

C’est le premier décembre, et c’est le premier dimanche de l’Avent …

It’s the first day of December, and it’s the first Sunday in Advent…

Pour suivre la tradition suédoise de cette période de l’année (et cette tradition tient un place tout particulière dans mon cœur), j’aurais dû faire en amont des petits gâteaux secs aux épices et des petits pains sucrés au safran, qu’on dégusterait aujourd’hui à la lumière de la première bougie sur quatre dans le bougeoir d’Avent.

To follow the Swedish tradition for this time of year (and this tradition holds a very special place in my heart), I should already have baked ginger snaps and saffron buns that we would eat today at the light of the first of the four Advent candles.

Je n’en suis pas tout à fait là (peut-être dimanche prochain …), mais je souhaite quand même marquer cette période de l’année !

I’m not quite up to par (perhaps next Sunday…), but I still want to do something special this time of year!

In the interest of full disclosure I must admit that my health, and thus my energy, haven’t been top notch these past few weeks. That is why I don’t dare to promise you a blog post with instructions every single day without exception until the 25th – but I will try and do my best!

Pour chaque boule terminée, vous pouvez, si vous le souhaitez, m’envoyer la photo (pas besoin d’une photo de grande qualité, il faut juste que je vois que c’est bien l’une des boules décrites sur le blog pendant le mois de décembre). So here is the first step to make Christmas Bauble No 1!

BOULE NO 1

BAUBLE NO 1

Boule simple rembourrée avec couronne de feuilles.

Simple stuffed bauble with leaf crown.

Matériel :
Du fil type chaussette en deux couleurs
1 crochet 2.5 mm
Fibre de rembourrage.

Materials :
Fingering weight yarn in two colours
A 2.5 mm crochet hook
Filling material (polyfill or other)

Explications :

Pattern (US terminology):

Toute la boule se travaille en ms « classiques » et en spirale, c’est-à-dire sans fermer les tours. À la fin du tour, on enchaîne simplement sur le tour suivant. Placer un marqueur dans la première maille du tour, en le remontant pour chaque tour travaillé, pour repérer le début du tour.

The entire bauble is worked in normal sc and in a spiral – i e without closing the rounds. At the end of each round, simply continue working the next one. Place a marker in the first stitch of the round, moving it up as you go, to mark the beginning of the round.

Etape 1 :

Step 1:

Tour 1 : Monter 6 ms en rond à l’aide d’une boucle ajustable – technique expliquée dans mon bulletin d’information de juin 2010 (http://www.annettepetavy.com/pages/fr/bulletin/201006.htm).

Ne pas fermer le tour puisque nous allons travailler en spirale.

Do not close the round, since we are going to work in a spiral.

Tour 2 : 1 ms dans la première m, 2 ms dans les 2 m suiv, 1 ms dans la m suiv, 2 ms dans les 2 m suiv – on augmenté de 4 m, et on a 10 m.

Round 2 : 1 sc in first st, 2 sc in each of next 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in each of next 2 sts – 4 sts increased, there are 10 sts.

Sur les tours suivants, il faut augmenter (en travaillant 2 ms dans la même m du tour précédent) le nombre de mailles indiqué, en repartissant les augmentations de façon régulière sur chaque tour, et en évitant de les placer les unes au-dessus des autres, pour créer une forme bien arrondie. Le reste de chaque tour se travaille en ms normalement. Seules les augmentations sont donc indiquées.

On the following rounds, increase (by working 2 sc in the same st in the previous round) the number of sts indicated, placing the increases regularly over each round, and avoiding to place them on top of the increases in the previous round, to create a well-rounded shape. The rest of the round is worked in sc as usual. Only the number of increases is indicated in the instructions below.

Tours 3 – 5 : Augmenter de 4 m sur chaque tour – on a 22 m.

Rounds 3 – 5 : Increase 4 sts on each round – there are 22 sts.

Tour 6 : Augmenter de 6 m – on a 28 m.

Round 6: Increase 6 sts – there are 28 sts.

Tours 7 – 10 : Augmenter de 4 m sur chaque tour – on a 44 m.

Tour 11 : Augmenter de 6 m – on a 50 m.
