Il y a quelque temps, une cliente m’a demandé conseil pour réaliser le modèle du couffin dans la fiche Couffin et pochette feutrés par EclatDuSoleil, non pas dans un fil qui feutre, mais dans le bambou vendu dans ma boutique.
Some time ago, a customer asked me for advice on crocheting the basket design in the pattern Felted (or unfelted) cabas and pouch by EclatDuSoleil, substituting the feltable yarn with the bamboo yarn in the shop.
En réponse à sa question, j’ai fait deux échantillons : le bleu dans la photo, avec 3 brins de bambou dentelle (coloris lagon) et un crochet de 4 mm, et le gris, avec 2 brins (1 brin de gris argent + 1 brin de gris fer) et un crochet de 3,5 mm.
To answer her question, I made two swatches: the blue one with 3 strands of laceweight bamboo (in the lagoon colour) and a 4 mm hook, and the grey one with 2 strands (1 strand silver grey + 1 strand pewter) and a 3.5 mm hook.
En extrapolant le résultat (je n’ai donc pas crocheté tout le modèle du panier !), j’ai trouvé qu’il faudrait en travaillant le bambou dentelle en triple environ 7 pelotes, et qu’on obtiendrait sans modifier le modèle un panier d’environ 82 cm de circonférence. En travaillant deux brins ensemble, il faudrait 4 ou 5 pelotes pour un panier réalisé selon la fiche, qui aurait un circonférence d’environ 75 cm.
Extrapolating the result (please note that I didn’t work up the whole basket in two versions!), I estimated that you would need about 7 balls of bamboo laceweight if you work 3 strands together, to obtain a basket measuring about 82 cm around, without modifying the pattern. If working 2 strands together, you would need 4 or 5 balls for a basket according to the pattern, which would measure about 75 cm around.
